Australian Association for Pacific Studies (AAPS) Conference 2025
From June 4-6 Drs Eta Raicebe and Matt Bray represented OPHA at the Australian Association for Pacific Studies (AAPS) Conference at the University of Sydney.
The conference proved a very fruitful opportunity to network with Pacific Islands multidisciplinary researchers and academic leaders from across Australia and New Zealand discussing the theme: Pacific Discourses and Destinies.
On the final day of the conference in a panel session dedicated to the theme “Life and Identity in Pacific diaspora” Eta and Matt presented our talk on OPHA as a case study for Pacific health equity leadership entitled “Oceans of Opportunity” highlighting that amidst the various issues driving inequitable health access and outcomes for the Pacific diaspora in Australia there is also an ocean of opportunity to enhance culturally safe care for Pasifika in Australia and enrich the broader healthcare landscape by infusing it with Pacific culture, relationality and ways of being.
Vinaka vaka levu to the Australian Association of Pacific Studies for hosting this space!
