OPHA Member Highlight: Dr Luke Ward

We’re proud to spotlight OPHA Member Dr Luke Ward, who recently featured on Scale My Clinic podcast in an episode exploring his journey from junior GP to practice owner.

In Episode 118: “How a Junior GP Chose the Right Practice to Buy Into,” Dr Ward shares how he approached the search for the right practice — looking beyond simply finding a place to work and instead considering where he could build a long-term future as an owner.

Now one of five equal owners across Robina Town Medical Centre and EZT Medical Centre on the Gold Coast, Luke discusses the questions he asked, the importance of a strong practice culture and staff retention, and how he prepared himself for ownership before an opportunity formally arose.

His story offers valuable insights for GPs considering practice ownership and highlights the importance of choosing the right environment, team and opportunity for the long term.
