OPHA Member Highlight: Brigitta Samuelu
Also known as The Samoan OT, Brigitta Samuelu is a proud Samoan and Occupational Therapist based in New South Wales, Australia. Her work centres on child development, sensory integration, and women’s health. Recently, she was able to bring her skills and heart to the community through an initiative called Ohana – Nobody Gets Left Behind.
Born from a heartfelt collaboration between Talanoa Sydney, Matavai, Kokua Support Services, The Samoan OT, ASD mum Si’i Taufa, MRM Care Consultant, and Power Enclave Support Services, Ohana was created to uplift and empower families and carers by raising awareness of neurodiversity in children.
The event fostered a truly inclusive and safe space for all who attended. Its educational component provided a meaningful opportunity to explore and deepen understanding of sensory processing and child development, through both shared stories and clinical insight. A standout moment was a beautiful performance by children of different neurotypes—each one seen, celebrated, and embraced for who they are.
