Heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes they wear scrubs.

Despite the challenges of Tropical Cyclone conditions and flooding in the Western Division, two dedicated medical specialists still made the journey to support Fiji’s first outreach visit for the year.

The Fiji Government has extended its sincere appreciation to Dr Clare Myers, an advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgeon from Melbourne, and Dr Daniel Jolley, anaesthetist and specialist in minimally invasive surgery, for volunteering their time and expertise to mentor and support our local surgical teams. Their contribution helps strengthen Fiji’s capacity to manage complex gynaecological conditions and improve care for women.

Their visit comes during International Women’s Month and Endometriosis Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of compassionate, multidisciplinary care for women living with this condition.

The Fiji Government also acknowledges Dr Rebecca Mitchell, who is serving this year at Lautoka Hospital, further supporting specialist services and mentoring local teams.

The Fiji Government thanks the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Aspen Medical, Fiji National University, the AFEG group under OPHA, and the dedicated healthcare professionals in Lautoka for their continued partnership and commitment to improving women’s health care in Fiji.

To the hardworking doctors, nurses and perioperative teams, your dedication and compassion make a real difference in the lives of women across our nation.

Vinaka vakalevu for your service!
