Australia/NZ–Fiji Endoscopic Gynaecology Group (AFEG) -Outreach in 2026!
This year marks our third year of the Australia–NZ Fiji Endoscopy Group (AFEG, under Oceania Pacific Health Association) Oceania Pacific Health Association delivering endoscopic and urogynaecology outreach services in Fiji.
What began as a vision has grown into a long-term partnership with Aspen Medical Aspen Medical - FijiAspen Medical Australia and the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services — a collaboration grounded in sustainability, skills transfer, and local capacity building.
In March and May this year AFEG completed two more outreach programs.
We are proud to share that Fiji were joined by exceptional volunteers:
Dr Clare Meyers – Specialist Minimally Invasive Gynaecologic Surgeon (Melbourne)
Dr Daniel Jolly – Specialist Anaesthetist with expertise in minimally invasive surgery (Tasmania)
Dr Madeleine Honner - Specialist Gynaecologist
Andrea Jones - Senior Theatre Nurse and Educator
These volunteers have generously offered their time and expertise to:
Mentor and upskill local surgeons and theatre teams
Support advanced minimally invasive procedures
Strengthen safe, sustainable surgical care for Fijian women
These outreach visits were about partnership, knowledge sharing, and empowering local teams to deliver lasting change.Together, we continue our commitment to a life-long Pacific partnership, ensuring women receive high-quality care closer to home. With gratitude to our growing AFEG family and all who support this work!
The next outreach is planned for July for a two day workshop as well as attending the biennial OPHA Conference in September.
