Global Initiatives with Dr Moni Kami, MyLocalDoc

Dr Moni Kami is a medical doctor, speaker, coach, singer, and former international athlete whose career has spanned healthcare, elite sport, and community service.

He has worked internationally as a Team Doctor for the Oceania, Commonwealth, and Australian Weightlifting Federations, as well as across Rugby Union, Rugby League, Muay Thai, boxing, and the UFC, including alongside Mark Hunt. Known in weightlifting circles for the iconic call, “The lift is good!”, Dr Moni is passionate about helping people shift perspective, take action, and find hope.

In late 2025, through MyLocalDoc’s Global Initiatives Program in partnership with GAIN, Dr Moni participated in five medical outreach clinics serving communities across Fiji with limited access to healthcare.

Representing the MyLocalDoc Caloundra team, Dr Moni brought a wealth of international experience to the program. After completing his General Practice training through the University of London, he spent 12 years practising in the UK before relocating to Australia with his family and attaining Fellowship of the RACGP. His commitment to service has also taken him to communities in Papua New Guinea and Tonga.

Together, the MyLocalDoc team provided care to more than 600 people during the Fiji outreach program.

One of the most memorable moments was seeing people put on newly donated glasses for the very first time. The joy and emotion on their faces were a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact that even simple healthcare interventions can have.

At its heart, the program demonstrated something truly special: people from diverse backgrounds coming together with a shared purpose—to bring hope, dignity, and better health to communities in need.
